What does this scholarship mean to you?

As a recipient, it means a lot to me and my family. Receiving this scholarship will help alleviate the burden of student loans that I will have to take out. I am very grateful for that. It also encourages me to know that people that come from the same background as me can be successful and make a difference.

Who is your role model?

My mother is my role model because she taught me to be strong, resilient, and calm when overcoming difficulties. She has also been an inspiration that even though you mess up it's never too late to better yourself and make better decisions.

What is your favorite sports memory?

My favorite sports memory was beating Cinco Ranch to secure our 4th place spot in districts to make playoffs for the first time in five years.

“I have come to realize how important embracing diversity is for people and their environment. We need to be inclusive and accepting of what makes us and others unique. Diversity matters in my life by impacting my ideas, experiences, and perspectives. I do not want to ever make anyone feel less than; because of who they are or where they come from like I have been made to feel before. In addition, diversity exposes you to what this world has to offer. It has enabled me to thrive as a team player and rise as a leader on and off the field.”
